MIAMI BEACH *PRE ORDER

$195.00

Shipping window: Due  December/January

Considered by many as the USA’s, fastest growing and sexiest city, Miami is more popular than ever before. Yet, it is a city that doesn’t merely change but evolves, never rewriting the past, just adding to its illustrious heritage. And this is the real beauty of Miami. The chic Surf Club and the vibrant Faena Hotel did not replace the emblematic Raleigh of the 1940s nor the Ritz Carlton of the 50s, rather they complement them. Classics like Joe’s Stone Crab continue to serve their signature fare to sell-out crowds each night, as new establishments attract with name chefs. The iconic art deco architecture remains on full display as the modern Herzog & de Meuron-designed Perez Art Museum stands in stark contrast. Replete with arts and culture year round from the international art at The Bass to the street art of Wynwood Walls, each December, the city is taken over by the global cultural elite for Art Basel Miami Beach, a fair that attracts over 80,000 visitors who turn out for the momentous art, such as Maurizio Cattelan’s show-stopping “Comedian”, and the exuberant festivities hosted each evening.

Well-known for its nightlife, pleasure is a focal point of Miami life at all times. Yachts and recreational boats line its marinas, lively beaches offer front row seats to a parade of bronzed revellers, and bladers and bikers coast along its beachfront promenades. Miami has become the hub for everything chic, fiery and colourful. Miami Beach takes the readers on a tour of this bold and wonderous metropolis.

ASPEN STYLE *PRE ORDER

$195.00

Shipping window: Due November

What began as a small mining camp during the Colorado Silver Boom of the late nineteenth century has since become the preferred getaway of the world’s elite. Treasured for what’s above ground rather than below, Aspen, Colorado has a storied history almost as dense as the directory of A-listers who have adopted the jewel of Pitkin County as their second home, or who have settled in its slopes indefinitely. From the “fortified compound” that was Hunter S. Thompson’s Owl Farm, to John Denver’s “Starwood in Aspen,” to the scores of financial titans who also call the mountain home, Aspen has long drawn an eclectic and wide-ranging crowd. With an introduction from longtime resident Aerin Lauder, founder & creative director of AERIN, Aspen Style celebrates and pays homage to the stark glamour, the working-class history, and the romance of the virtually untouched landscape that gives the town the unique charisma that continues to draw new devotees with each season. Exploring the rustic-chic atmosphere of the Hotel Jerome, the architectural excellence of Herbert Bayer’s restored Wheeler Opera House, and local culture found at Schlomo’s Deli & Grill, to name a few, this deluxe volume is brought to life with stunning current and historical imagery capturing the prodigious evolution of this mountain town over the last century.

MARRAKECH FLAIR *PRE ORDER

$195.00

Shipping window: Due December

It has been said that Marrakech awakens all of the senses. Whether it is seeing the intricate zellige tilework; smelling the various spices sold at the souks; hearing the call to prayer emanate from the nearby mosques; touching the supple leather used to make a pair of babouches (leather sandals); tasting a flavorful tagine, Marrakech never fails to excite. Located just west of the Atlas Mountains, the city has been inhabited by Berber farmers for centuries. It has been dubbed the “Ochre City” because of the proliferation of red sandstone buildings and the red city walls, which now enclose the Medina, home to Jemaa el-Fnaa, one of the busiest squares in Africa.

Marrakech overflows with culture and has been inspiring visitors for decades. From Yves Saint Laurent to Talitha Getty, Winston Churchill to Mick Jagger, Marrakech has attracted great icons inspired by its eternal spirit as well as its sweet, beautiful life. Yves Saint Laurent’s intimate relationship to this city led to the opening of a museum dedicated to his legendary work. The annual Marrakech International Film Festival draws a prominent crowd. Museums abound, exhibiting Moroccan arts, photography, carpets, and the Andalusian design aesthetic that permeates the city’s architecture. La Mamounia hotel, opened in 1923, offers a storied history, which includes hosting guests such as Winston Churchill. Vanessa Branson’s El Fenn is a collection of traditional riads that form a stunning boutique hotel. There are countless ways to be immersed in the culture of Marrakech, but perhaps the best place to start is with a simple glass of mint tea.

ATHENS RIVIERA *PRE ORDER

$195.00

Shipping window: Due November

Overlooking the Aegean Sea, a charming string of coastal neighbourhoods form the Athens Riviera, a serene escape from the constant activity in the city’s centre. A selection of high-end hotels lines the pristine stretch of beaches down to the southernmost point of the Attica Peninsula. The revamped Four Seasons Astir Palace, with a history of housing foreign dignitaries and film stars of the 1960s, is the most luxurious hotel in Athens, perhaps even in all of Greece. The night club, Island, is bringing back the glamour and excitement of the twentieth-century bouzouki clubs reminiscent of names such as Melina Mercouri and Stavros Niarchos.

Athens is experiencing a revival—in art, nightlife and design. For a metropolis constantly associated with the past, the modern strides in development and culture are sometimes overlooked in favour of the ruins and artifacts from antiquity. When in fact, the juxtaposition only enhances the beauty of both. Athens Riviera puts the old-world beside the new-world and a deeper understanding of this ancient capital emerges. With one foot in the past and one foot in the future; access to both the electricity of city life and the tranquillity of a beachside resort, Athens cannot be defined in simple terms. One just has to experience it for themselves.

About Carthusia
Capri, the Italian island of dreams, has been an enchanting oasis since Roman times. Its natural beauty, sunny climate and innate glamour are legendary. In 1380 the Father Prior of the Monastery of St. Giacomo was taken unawares by the news of the arrival on Capri of the Queen Giovanna D’ Angio’ and so made her a flower arrangement with the most beautiful island flowers. The water was not changed for three days and, when the flowers were discarded, the prior noticed that the water had acquired a beautiful fragrance unknown to him. He went to the father alchemist who traced the origin of this scent back to the “Garofilium Silvestre Caprese”. That water became the first perfume of Capri.

Forgotten for many years, in 1948 the Prior of the Monastery discovered the old perfume formulas and by permission of the Pope, revealed them to a chemist, who created the smallest fragrance laboratory in the world and called it ‘Carthusia’. Today the perfume tradition continues and limited production ensures the same methods used by the Carthusian monks are respected.

PALM BEACH

$195.00

Early in the 1900s, one-time oil baron Henry Morrison Flagler took interest in the Southern coast of Florida and began developing an exclusive resort community. Establishing a railroad that would allow easier access to the area, he went on to build two hotels—his hope was that America’s first families would come to populate the area. This modest community would later evolve into an iconic American destination, hosting British royalty, American movie stars, and becoming the home-away-from-home to some of the country’s leading families. As the century continued, Palm Beach established itself as a luxury hideaway synonymous with old-world glamour and new-world sophistication.

In this splendid volume, longtime resident and Palm Beach social fixture Aerin Lauder takes us through her Palm Beach. From favourite restaurants like Nandos and Renatos to favourite houses like La Follia and Villa Artemis, she takes us to the elite shopping of Worth Avenue and the scenic walkways of the Lake Worth trail, all the while relating to us the histories, faces, and places that have become so identified with Palm Beach.

CHATEAU LIFE

$210.00

In a busy modern life, meals are often relegated to five- or ten-minute time slots. The French have long been lauded as culinary experts, and the emphasis they place on time spent around the dinner table is yet another secret worth borrowing. Living la vie de château at Château Bosgouet in Normandy, Jane Webster and her Australian family have embraced the traditions of the French table with surprise and delight at each turn, from navigating the market to setting the table to making the most of a vegetable garden, and their adventures are captured here by the sophisticated eye of photographer Robyn Lea.

These sixty recipes—organized around ten themes, including holiday traditions, lunch box contents, joie de vivre, and the French Sunday lunch—are a sensational catalogue of the Webster clan’s favourite food moments. The double-baked three-cheese soufflé, chicken and tarragon pies, or lemon curd panna cotta with fresh summer berries are just a few of the featured dishes, all of which, when paired with good conversation and company, are ideal catalysts for creating an occasion remembered for years to come. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are always highlighted, as is the value of setting aside as much time as possible for these all-important meals shared with family and friends.

Constantly inspired by the atmosphere of his ancient city, Gülgün believes successful interior design is a place of experience in which authentic elements of culture fuse and achieve alchemy, awakening all the senses and transporting its inhabitants to a place of fantasy.

About Anjali Essential Oils
Australian owned and locally bottled, Anjali oils have developed a beautiful range of organic and pure essentials oils that are undisturbed by any pollutions or pesticides.
Anjali oils understand and appreciate the connection between essential oils, our bodies and the medicinal properties.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS

There are three ways to use essential oils:

1. Through smell
We call this “aromatic” use of essential oils. This includes any application method that helps you experience the aroma of the oil.

The sense of smell is a tool that can elicit powerful physiological, mental, and emotional responses. Essential oils are quickly absorbed by smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system, which is the part of your brain that stores memories and emotions. Some essential oils induce uplifting or invigorating effects, while others are more calming.

You can use essential oils aromatically by:

  • Diffusing in an essential oil diffuser
  • Applying a drop to your hands and inhaling
  • Wearing as a personal fragrance
  • Apply oil to a cotton ball and place in the air vents of your vehicle
  • Mix oils in a spray bottle with water and mist over furniture, carpet, or linens
  • Add oil to a batch of laundry or to dryer sheets
  • Use in household surface cleaners

2. On your skin
“Topical” application of essential oils allows the oil to absorb into the skin

Essential oils easily penetrate the skin for localised benefits, making topical application a great way to experience the benefits of essential oils.
When used topically, essential oils can improve complexion and skin tone. They can also be used as part of a soothing massage.

Some ways to use essential oils on your skin are:

  • Add a few drops of oil to a warm bath
  • Make a hot or cold compress by soaking a cloth in water, adding essential oils, and then applying to the desired area
  • Add oil to a lotion or moisturiser and then apply to skin

Sensitive Areas to be Avoided

  • Some facial areas, such as the skin around the eyes
  • Eyes and inner ears
  • Broken, damaged, or otherwise injured skin

3. Ingesting
Ingesting or “internal” use of essential oils allows the oil to be transported throughout your body. Make sure the essential oil is safe for internal use first, and then try one of these methods:

  • Add to a glass of water
  • Take in a veggie capsule
  • Put a drop under your tongue

  • Eyes and inner ears
  • Broken, damaged, or otherwise injured skin
